The above mentions where in N.Z Chrash was born and raised, it how ever doesn't say where he learnt his ability to design traditionally styled Maori tattoos or Ta Moko. Chrash had to travel 6hrs south of his home region to study under a master carver of all mediums to learn and develop as a young "artist" in all facets of Te Ao Maori or the realm of Maoridom.

It was an honor to work and be taught by one of the best Rangatira "tutor" in N.Z and was one of the most testing and rewarding experiences in his artistic career to date.

Other influences in his life are definitely his family and the environment. He loves anything to do with the ocean as it has great effect on his designing.

All his work is custom according to whakapapa or ones own story whether it be family oriented or interests of the individual.
